For the second straight season, the Cranford girls' basketball team will be playing three games in five days in state tournament competition.

The third-seeded Cougars improved to 19-7 and won their second straight after defeating sixth-seeded Mendham 55-50 Wednesday in a North 2, Group 3 quarterfinal at Martin Gymnasium.

Union County LocalSource Local teens to take the ‘plunge’

This time last year several groups of Cranford Teens took part in a charity event.
Many of these teens sit on the Cranford Teen Advisory Board. It is the goal of the TAB to work in conjunction with the Cranford Recreation Department to plan activities for Cranford teenagers. TAB members had a memorable time last year and they decided to try to it again this year as a TAB activity open to all Cranford residents.

Union County LocalSource CPL collects ‘Pennies for Peace’

Cranford Public Library plans to honor Abraham Lincoln’s bicentennial in a special way by collecting Lincoln Pennies for Peace. During February and March library patrons are encouraged to donate their pennies, which will be collected at the library’s main desk. The pennies will go to build school libraries in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The original Pennies for Peace was conceived by students in a Wisconsin elementary school in 1996.
